Camp Coast Care

I have left Camp Hope and started a new project in Long Beach, Mississippi. My team is living at Camp Coast Care, or as we say “The Cube”, and we are reconstructing old houses and building brand new ones. The camp is run by Episocpalians and Lutherans, so even in Americorps, I am still surrounded by Episcopalians. I’ve done mostly drywalling for the last week at the home of a very nice couple right down the road. In the process, I have nearly killed 2 volunteers. (If the FBI is reading this, I wrote “nearly”, so you guys have nothing on me.) The two volunteers almost dropped a sheet of drywall on their heads. Our living conditions are great. We live in a communal bedroom, divided into boys and girls. We have an amazing chef named Jon Marc here who makes fantastic food. Also, we have the beach 2 miles down the road, which I am actually about to go run to. I think this is going to be a great SPIKE.

Lesson to learn from this post: Episcopalians are everywhere and it’s becoming a national concern
